Let Grow was an exhibition of selected work by students in the MPS Art Therapy Department and the clients they work with at their internship sites. MPS Art Therapy student work was paired with client work to illustrate the dynamic nature of letting go. The gallery acted as an inclusive, nurturing environment: second-year art therapy students and their clients, the SVA community and beyond, all had the opportunity to take part in the celebration of healing and growth through the creative process.
Part of the installation featured an interactive piece: a tree which was garnished throughout the exhibition run with stickers (or leaves) representing what parts of their lives participants wanted to cast off, and grow from. Let Grow / Let Go.
First-year student scholarships are also awarded at this annual event. Department Chair Deborah Farber, ATR-BC, LCAT, presented scholarships– the Estelle Bellomo Award for Excellence in Art Therapy, the Ray Levine Annual Scholarship Award to Meghan Lyons and Nicole Buttafuoco, respectively.
