Kate Lacour, MPS Art Therapy Class of 2009, TEDx Talk

Kate Lacour, MPS Art Therapy alumnus, class of 2009, recently gave a TEDx talk on her current work.  She has been working on a creative community access project in New Orleans where she founded a creative arts nonprofit which runs a sci-fi Mardi Gras performance group for teens with autism.  She is currently partnering with the engineering department at Tulane University to help the teenage workshop participants build a musical vehicle in the university’s maker lab.  You can view her talk, blog, photos and more at www.STOMPtroopers.org

Kate says, “here in New Orleans, there is a real dearth of special needs services, and art therapy (which is not licensed or officially recognized in this state) is virtually nonexistent.  I’m proud to be a part of this project; it fills a void and perseveres in spite of very limited resources.”
