Elementary-school students in Liberia, Costa Rica work on an art therapy project

Five MPS Art Therapy students and one alumnus are taking part in a three-week Multicultural Issues and Internship/Supervision summer course in Liberia, Costa Rica. Liz Dellicarpini (SVA faculty/Internship Coordinator) is supervising the students and Aaron Cockle (Director of Operations) is handling logistics.   MPS students are conducting daily clinical art therapy internship work with children at La Victoria Elementary School.  Students are staying with host families living near the school.

Our department participated in a similar project last year with the same elementary school.   You can see the results of last year’s work here, in which the children worked together to construct their visions of El Barrio Perfecto, or, the ideal neighborhood.

The program runs May 21 – June 8, 2012.
