Participants in the YWCA’s Women’s Employment Network (WEN) program recently visited the MPS Art Therapy studio space for a stress-relief artmaking workshop.
For seven years, MPS Art Therapy Special Projects have been part of the six-week employment program WEN offers to women who are preparing to return to the work force. The WEN program also incorporates training in computer skills, resume writing, and communication. An art therapy project is typically conducted during the third week of the program, but this is the first year the project has taken place at our studio on West 21st Street, rather than at the YWCA site. Kelly Merriam, a second year MPS Art Therapy student, facilitated along with Special Projects Coordinator Val Sereno.
